What do we do?
The workshop committee designs and presents interactive workshops on a wide variety of interesting and relevant STEM topics to local elementary schools. This committee is perfect for those who love the creativity of writing, presenting, and designing, and for those who want to learn more about the logistics of science communication, education, and measuring student outcomes.
Our current initiatives include:
-
Making connections between STEM topics and current events/career interests of students
-
Networking with new schools and after-school programs to expand our reach; planning logistics of workshops (times, dates, locations, etc)
-
Working with advisors and club members to measure impact/effectiveness of workshops
Our responsibilities include:
-
Writing scripts and translating academic concepts into digestible elementary-level forms
-
Researching curriculums of partner schools
-
Presenting workshops/information knowledgeably and answering student questions
